  • Registration Checklist and Deadlines

    Registration

    • All students are pre-registered in all required courses upon admission/readmission. View your registration history on your InsideRanken account. 
    • Changes to your registration must be initiated in person in the Registrar’s Office, by e-mail, or via the on-line Program and Registration Change form under the Forms section here. 
      • Changes or withdrawals before the class begins incur no cost or grade assignment. 
      • Changes or withdrawals after the class begins are subject to the grade assignment and charges/refund policies detailed in the Student Handbook. 
      • Not attending classes is not an official withdrawal. 
      • After the term begins, administrative withdrawals resulting in WF (Withdraw Failing) grades occur for students who exceed the allowable number of absences in a course as stated in the Student Handbook’s Attendance. 

    Program Changes

    • Program changes during the admission application process should be directed to the Admissions Office. Changes after the semester starts should be directed to the Registrar’s Office. 
    • Initiate changes to degree/major/concentration/campus in the Registrar’s Office in person, complete the on-line form under the Forms section, or e-mail the office. Changes will be processed for the next available term. Please consult with the Financial Aid office prior to any change to determine any possible impact on your aid. 
    • Degree Level Change Deadlines. Levels are Certificate of Technology (CT), Associate of Technology (AT), Associate of Science (AS), Bachelor of Science (BS), Evening Certificates (1-year and 2-year).   
    • Students can change to a higher level (CT to AT to AS) or from AS/AT/CTT to Evening Certificate at any time.   
    • Students must change to a lower level (AS/AT to CT) before the 50% completion point of the program.  
    • Students moving from Evening certificate to AS/AT/CTT will not be able to transfer technical courses to new degree path.  

    Student Class Schedules

    • Where’s my schedule? Log in to your InsideRanken account, under the Academics tab then scroll to Student Schedule section.  
    • Days of the Week Codes appearing on the schedule: 
      • M or Mon = Monday 
      • T or Tue = Tuesday 
      • W or Wed = Wednesday 
      • R or Thu = Thursday 
      • F or Fri = Friday 
      • S or Sat = Saturday 
      • U or Sun = Sunday, on-line only, or To Be Arranged with Instructor (e.g. internships) 
    • On-line only courses – Refer to the course syllabus for assignments. The Sunday 12AM-6AM time is only a system placeholder, not the actual class meeting times. 
    • Internships collect weekly attendance and have a Sunday 8AM-4PM system placeholder. Contact your instructor for further details.  
    • WEG 101C, Understanding Work Ethic Values course, is required for all first-time daytime program students taking technical classes. The Sunday 12AM-6AM time is only a placeholder for the system. Refer to the course syllabus for assignments and instructions.   
    • Work Ethic Grade (WEG) courses. There are no meeting dates or times for this course; it is associated with your technical/major class. The Sunday 7AM time with the term start and end dates are only a placeholder for the system. Refer to the Student Handbook for additional information on WEG requirements.

    Semester Checklist to be Authorized

    Students who are Not Authorized cannot attend classes or purchase books and tools. Review your account on InsideRanken.org 

    Holds – Resolve any holds on your account with the appropriate office (view under Academics tab of InsideRanken). 

    Financial Aid– Resolve any outstanding items (view under Finances tab). 

    Payment – Submit first payment and set-up a payment plan by the deadline for any student with an account balance (view under Finances tab). Payment plan instructions (https://ranken.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Setting-Up-Your-Tuition-Payment-Plan-1.pdf).  

    • July 1st for Fall semesters 
    • December 1st for Spring semesters 
    • April 1st for Summer semesters. 

    Only Authorized students can order/purchase books and tools. 

    • Contact the Bookstore for any physical books or tools. No printed class schedule is required prior to visiting the Bookstore. 
    • General education classes have digital books through Cengage.

    Transcripts

    • Unofficial Ranken transcripts are available to current students on InsideRanken.

    • Official Ranken transcript requests – complete the on-line form under the Forms section, submit a request in person, or mail a written request to the Registrar’s Office along with payment made to Ranken Technical College. Cost is $10 per transcript.

    • Transfer Credit Official transcripts must be sent directly from the other college’s Registrar’s Office to this office by e-mail or mail for evaluation.  Official transcripts issued to student in sealed envelope will be accepted. Credit must be completed at a regionally accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum grade of C on A-F grading scale.

    • CLEP, Advanced Placement, and Prior Learning Assessment credits accepted. 

    Academic Standing

    • Good Standing – minimum career GPA of 2.0

    • Academic Probation 
      • Students placed on probation have one semester to raise their career GPA to at least 2.0 to return to Good Standing. 
      • Students placed on probation who achieve a minimum semester GPA of 2.0 but their career GPA is below 2.0 will be placed on Extended Academic Probation. 
      • Students placed on probation who fail to meet the minimum semester GPA of 2.0 and career GPA of 2.0 will be dismissed from the College.

    • Extended Academic Probation 
      • Students placed on extended probation have one semester to raise their career GPA to at least 2.0 to return to Good Standing or they will be dismissed from the college.

    • Academic Dismissal
      • Students dismissed from the college must contact the Registrar’s Office if they wish to apply for acceptance to return to the college for a future term. Completion of an academic success plan with the Student Success Office is part of the readmission process. 

    President’s List Status

    • Ranken Technical College has established the “President’s List” to recognize the academic achievement of students. This list is published at the end of each semester and is available in the Registrar’s office.

    • To be eligible for this honor, students must meet the following criteria: 
      • Successfully completed at least six credit hours. 
      • Received no final grade of D, F or WF in the awarding semester. 
      • Earned a 3.75 career (cumulative) grade point average at the end of the awarding semester.

    Graduation Information

    Graduation terminology = Completion of all program requirements  

    Commencement terminology = Celebration of Graduation Applicants  

    • Graduation requirements: 
      • Evening 1-Year and 2-Year certificates require the completion of all technical classes.  
      • Bachelor of Science in Applied Management (BSAM) program requires the completion of all general education and BSAM courses.  
      • Daytime full-time technical programs require the completion of all technical, general education, and work ethic classes. Daytime programs are Certificate of Technology, Associate of Technology, Associate of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology.  More than 50% of WEG courses must be completed with NIM or higher grades. 
      • Completion of all coursework with C or better grades.

    • Technical programs must be completed within double time (time to completion policy). Example: 2-year program must be completed within 4 years. 

    • Graduation applications are not required.  Registrar’s Office will contact expected graduation applicants during their final semester to review name, contact information, and program information.

    • Graduation evaluations are performed by Registrar’s Office. 

    • Ranken awards Latin honors based upon the final career GPA as follows: 
      • 3.5 – Cum Laude 
      • 3.75 – Magna Cum Laude 
      • 3.9 – Summa Cum Laude 
    • The listing of graduates, degrees, and academic honors for Ranken’s commencement ceremony is preliminary and subject to final degree requirement evaluation by the Registrar’s office.

    • For purposes of the commencement ceremony, Latin honors will be calculated by the Registrar’s office as of the 40th day of the student’s final semester.

    • For diploma and transcript purposes, Latin honors will be calculated after final degree audits are complete.

    • Diploma names are printed with the same legal name on your academic records. Preferred names should be communicated to the Registrar’s Office. 

    • Diplomas are mailed approximately six weeks after the term in which all graduation requirements have been satisfied to the address on file for students with no account balance.

    • Replacement diploma requests can be submitted by completing the on-line form under the Forms section. 

    • Commencement ceremony is held once a year in May for the prior Fall/December graduates and expected Spring/May and Summer/August candidates of that year. Only diploma covers are distributed at commencement.

    • Complete this form for registration changes, program changes (degree, major, concentration) or to withdraw from the college.

    Transcript Request Form

    • Current students can obtain unofficial transcript copies on their InsideRanken.org account.
    • Complete the request form for official transcripts along with your payment details. Price details available once you select the delivery options through National Clearinghouse. Fee is $10.00 per transcript plus a surcharge fee by the Clearinghouse.

    Diploma Replacement Form

    • Complete this form and $35 payment for a replacement diploma. Allow four weeks for delivery.

    Enrollment and Graduation Verifications

    • Ranken Technical College has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment and degree verifications. Ranken Technical College will no longer complete enrollment or degree verifications on campus or via phone.

  • Readmission

    Readmission refers to students returning to finish the same program or change programs, or those who graduated and are seeking a new program.

    • Submit a new admission application at https://ranken.edu/apply.
      • Select which campus, program, and semester in which you plan to return. Visit the Ranken webpage for the list of all certificate and degree choices.
    • Any outstanding financial obligations to the college must be resolved prior to your readmission application being finalized.
    • Students whose career GPA in the same division (daytime or evening) is less than 2.0 will be required to meet with a Student Success Counselor to develop an Academic Plan for your success upon returning.
    • Students seeking to finish the same program will be reviewed for two additional items.
      • Time to completion policy. Technical degrees must be completed within double time from entry date (e.g. two-year program must be completed within four years). Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Vice President for Education.
      • Program review for availability and whether requirements have changed since last attendance.
    • Students seeking financial assistance are encouraged to submit the free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible at fafsa.gov.
