Wondering how to become a diesel mechanic? With a projected steady increase in new diesel technician jobs in the next ten years, the U.S. Department of Labor notes that employers prefer applicants who have completed postsecondary training programs in diesel engine repair.

Ranken’s diesel mechanic training program was created to meet the growing need for heavy-duty service professionals in the transportation industry.

The program is Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified, and it will prepare graduates to be career-ready diesel service technicians.

Diesel technicians today must be prepared to work on a variety of systems, including air brakes, hydraulics, and air conditioning as well as the high-end multiplexed network of computers and electronics.

With Ranken’s focus on hands-on training and modern industry-standard technologies, Diesel Technology students will become proficient in a range of skills and equipment, including:

  • Rebuilding diesel engines
  • Servicing transmission assemblies in heavy-duty trucks
  • Servicing brake systems, including air brakes and anti-lock systems
  • Performing preventative maintenance inspections and services

The program is Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified; Students who complete the program will be able to enter the job market as confident, career-ready diesel service technicians.

The program will prepare students to take the Heavy Duty Truck ASE tests.
