Ranken performs strategic planning on a 5 year cycle. The current cycle is 2021-2025. The Strategic planning steering committee is tasked with developing the plan for the college. The committee includes administration, board representation, faculty, staff, industry representation, community representation and alumni.

We have concluded our Strategic Planning development process and have incorporated the final thoughts from the Board of Trustees.

We want to express a big THANK YOU for your inputs and support of the process.

As you will note, there are many activities with targets in the 2021-2022 academic year.  Our plan is to now roll this out to the Ranken community so we can begin operationalizing our strategic plan.  The Board will also see these activities referenced in your subcommittee and Board meetings going forward.

The next step is to get the official Ranken Board of Trustees’ approval of the strategic plan on record.

  • January 22, 2021 – Strategic Planning Steering Committee implementation meeting


    Jan 29, 2021 – Initial information to Steering Committee.

    Discussions include: Planning process/timelines/vision/mission

    Values/survey data/standing subcommittees


    Feb 12, 2021 – Steering Committee reviews Ranken’s mission/vision/values

    Submit recommended changes and approval of final drafts

    Final drafts are sent to subcommittees for recommendations.


    Feb 16, 2021 – Ranken’s Board of Trustees update


    Feb 26, 2021 – Steering Committee performs SWOT analysis to:

    Identify strategic issues

    Issues are grouped and sent to subcommittees for resolution.


    March 19, 2021

    Meet and discuss SWOT and Survey results

    March 2021 – Subcommittees meet to develop:

    Goals and objectives/ Plan of Action (POA) to address strategic issues.

    Document should include metrics/deliverables/timelines.


    April 2021 – Steering Committee will review and prioritize strategic issues/goals.


    April 2021 – Executive Committee drafts Ranken’s 2021 – 2025 strategic plan document.


    June 14, 2021 – Draft of 2021 – 2025 Strategic Plan presented to College Board for approval.


    June /July 2021 – Strategic Plan will be disseminated and implemented across the college.

    Modify Objectives if needed

    Brief Board of Trustees on progress
