The National Vision

A Movement, Not Just a Field Trip

Manufacturing Day is a national initiative held every fall to introduce students, educators, and communities to modern manufacturing careers.

Across the country, manufacturers, technical colleges, and workforce organizations open their doors to show off today’s advanced manufacturing environment, challenge outdated ideas about the industry, and inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.

What It Means At Ranken

Our Biggest Day To Open the Doors

At Ranken, Manufacturing Day is one of our signature outreach events. Hundreds of high school students visit our facilities for an immersive, hands-on experience — the kind that simply can’t be replicated in a classroom or a slide deck.

This year marks an exciting milestone: Manufacturing Day comes to our Wentzville location for the first time, bringing the experience to even more students across the region.

Why Every Program Participates

Manufacturing Is an Ecosystem

It relies on an entire network of skilled professionals working together to design, build, maintain, power, transport, and support the products we use every day. Every technical program has a place in that ecosystem.

Hands-On Learning Comes First

This Is Not a Tour

Students rotate through each participating program, where faculty lead activities that let them experience the work firsthand. The goal isn’t to show students what we do — it’s to let them do it themselves.

Industry Partners

Built Alongside Employers

One of the things that makes Ranken’s Manufacturing Day unique is the involvement of our employer partners. Rather than staffing an information table, partners help design and facilitate the hands-on activity itself.

When employers actively participate, students see exactly how classroom skills translate into rewarding careers — and get to talk with professionals who do the work every day.

Led By People Who Do The Work

Faculty Make the Difference

Every activity is designed and led by Ranken faculty who bring real industry experience into every station. Their enthusiasm and expertise are what turn a campus visit into an experience students remember — the connections made and stories shared shape how students see technical education and the careers it leads to.

Our Goal: Bring Them Back

Manufacturing Day Is Just the Beginning

Our Open House events take place the following week. The goal is simple — students leave excited enough to ask their parents to come back and see it all again.
