Joseph Million graduated from Ranken Technical College in 2003, Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Precision Machining Technology. After high school, he enlisted in the Air National Guard to help pay for his post-secondary education. In this interview, Joe talks about the benefits of a Ranken education, including the ability to gain experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology. After graduating he gained a wealth of experience at a variety of machine shops. “Be a machinist first” Joe says, emphasizing that practical skills help anyone looking to become an engineer. Having seen the quality of their service, Joe signed on with his current employer Hartwig – a leading machine tool distributor that provides expert guidance, support and manufacturing solutions. Mike Wolf, Hartwig’s Application Manager, tells us that Joe’s “creativity and enthusiasm for machining and CNC controls” are rare qualities that Ranken obviously fostered.
