On Thursday, September 25, Antron Brown will return to Ranken Technical College to speak to students in an event sponsored by Matco Tools. Brown is the 2012 NHRA Top Fuel world champion and driver of the Don Schumacher Racing-owned Matco Tools dragster.
Brown is the only racer in NHRA history to win races in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle. He has 46 career wins and 36 career No. 1 qualifying awards. When he won the 2012 NHRA Top Fuel championship, Brown became the first African-American to win a major motorsports title. For the last two years, he has won the St. Louis NHRA races.
“I love doing these technical school visits with Matco Tools,” Brown said. “I have been in the student’s position before when I was in school at Mercer College in New Jersey. Having the opportunity to give back to these students and speak to them about their future and their career paths is something I enjoy. These students and mechanics are the future and it’s great to meet them. Ranken is a great facility.”
The former college track star at Mercer Community College will speak to Ranken students about education and career choices before competing at the Auto Club Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, Sept. 26-28, at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill.
