Welcome to Web Development Wednesday! This week we interview Ben Schneider.

Ben Schneider graduated from Ranken’s Internet and Web-Based Technology (IWBT) program in 2015. “Ranken taught me more than just coding,” he says, “I learned self-discipline. You don’t have to attend a big college to obtain a fancy degree and have a successful career. While at Ranken, I interned as a project manager at Chen Laser, a dentistry institute that trains dentists on Biolase Dental Lasers. My job included building websites, editing course videos, repairing computers and servers, and running new ethernet.”

Ben had three job offers during his last semester at Ranken. He managed internal IT services for Aegis-Strategies, a Department of Defense consultancy company, now known as UNCOMN, LLC. Employing more than 200 employees, UNCOMN was named St. Louis’ fastest-growing private company by the St. Louis Business Journal. Ben explains, “I went to school for computer programming to obtain what I felt would be the most valuable entrepreneurial skill. I taught myself how to build and repair computers but lacked software experience. Being a Ranken student was empowering. From landing an exciting career to starting multiple businesses, I couldn’t be happier with the knowledge and discipline Ranken provided. I’m so pleased with the trajectory Ranken put me on, not only in my career, but life in general. I have referred many of my friends and family members to Ranken Technical College, my brother, Alex Schneider, is currently enrolled in Ranken’s Electrical Systems Design Technology program.

Kris Crichton, Vice President at UNCOMN, explains “Ben has become a real asset at UNCOMN. I am most impressed by his work ethic and creativity.“

Evan Gudmestad, Information Technology Department Chair and Ranken alum, tells us “Ben is a one-of-a-kind alumnus. His success includes launching successful businesses of his own. Cars and Coffee St. Louis, is the largest car event organization in the Midwest with 10,000 local members, whose weekly car shows host up to 1,000 cars. Ben is one of Ranken’s best ambassadors. He’s a hardworking, sharp young man with a very bright future.”
