For Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
At Ranken’s Summer Adventure Academies, students get fun, hands-on experiences with technology. They learn about career paths in technical industries while they have the experience of a lifetime.
Each program encourages students to design, create, think and work through hands-on activities. Over the course of the week, students complete a project and often get to take home their unique creations!
All A-Bot Robots – Robots are the future of technology, and fun to make and program! Students will develop engineering and technology skills building and programming NXT robots with gears, motors, and sensors.
Advanced Robotics – Designed for students with robotics experience through Ranken’s All A-Bot Robots camp or participation on an FLL team. Campers will design & build remote control TETRIX Prime robots, then participate in friendly competitions.
Aviation Technology – Students will get an introduction to aircraft maintenance and what it takes to keep them up in the air. Explore aviation careers, fly in an actual airplane, and build & launch rockets and gliders.
Design and Engineering – Campers will learn about machining and the engineering design process. Explore how your idea can come to life with Mastercam and Solidworks software.
Heavy Metals – Use raw metal to create your own designs! Students will learn the fundamentals of welding, from simple techniques to more complex ones. Students will design and fabricate their own metal masterpiece.
Summer Racers – Experience how a go-kart works, practice team-building skills, and how to drive a real go-kart safely! Have fun learning about automotive careers, how to use tools, and how pit stops win the race.
Website Design – Learn how to design your very own website. Interactive web activities will engage each student in the popular fundamentals of web design, using HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
