2018 Summer Boy Scout Merit Badge Camps

Participants will have the opportunity to work with college instructors to earn Merit Badges while enjoying the college experience, to include hands-on activities in state-of-the-arts labs and eating in the college café.  Scouts will be separated into two groups and rotate through one camp each day.

ELECTRONICS & PLUMBING SERIES:  Electronics is the science that controls the behavior of electrons so that some type of useful function is performed. Learn about safety, schematics, integrated circuits and the functions of each.  Demonstrate your understanding. – Rotate – The plumbing industry covers installations and repairs in homes, commercial properties, and factories.  Learn how these systems work.


Merit Badges & Prerequisites:

 

Electronics  Find out about three career opportunities in electronics that interest you.  Be prepared to explain what training and education are needed for each position.

 

Plumbing   Scouts should acquaint themselves with health & safety and how it pertains to plumbing.  Research and name 5 things a plumber does.  Also, name a plumbing company in your area (maybe one your family uses when needed).

When:  Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12 & 13, 2018, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Cost:   $60 per Boy Scout – Maximum capacity 30, Fee is non-refundable

Lodging Option:  $20 per person per night.  Lodge in Ranken’s dormitory if you’re traveling from out-of-town.  Contact LaTrina Rogers at (314) 286-4824 or email reslife@ranken.edu for more information.

Boy Scouts will provide:

  • 4 volunteer adult mentors (troop leaders/parents) to help supervise Scout activities
  • $25 per volunteer adult mentors – Fee is non-refundable

Ranken Technical College will provide:

  • Training space, project materials and safety gear
  • Qualified merit badge counselors to train/assist Scouts with merit badge projects
  • Lunch
  • T-shirt
