Industrial Electricity/Electronics, 1972
“It’s hard to believe that it has been more than 35 years since I graduated from Ranken. The education, skills and experiences I learned there have been invaluable throughout my career. I can honestly say that I used many of the technical skills I learned at Ranken in the first 23 years of my working life by helping solve customer problems all over the world.
I have nothing but great memories of the school and the outstanding educators that worked there. Ranken Technical College is one of the best kept secrets in America and it is the foundation of the success that I’ve had in my career.”
After graduation from Ranken Technical College in 1972 Mr. Bohnenkamp joined Emerson Electric as a Test Engineer for their Chromalox Division. He also taught Industrial Electricity/Electronics at Ranken in the evenings.
In 1974 Steve joined Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company, a privately-held firm based in St. Louis. Over a 31-year career at Watlow, he held many positions including Product Manager, Regional Manager in Ohio, and in Texas, Director-North American Sales and VP–International Operations & Global Sales. Bohnenkamp held Board positions on all of Watlow’s International companies and was on the Board of the Boeing International School of Business at St. Louis University.
In 2005 Bohnenkamp was recruited by Chicago-Metallic as Vice President-General Manager.
Bohnenkamp’s most recent venture is with The Marmon Group, a privately-held, $7 billion company based in Chicago. He was hired as Vice President, Global Sales for their Retail Services sector. Steve and his wife, Mary, have been married for 33 years and they currently reside in McKinney (Dallas), TX. They have two grown sons. Steve, Jr. and Brian. Bohnenkamp is a life-long St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan, as well as, an avid Cleveland Browns fan. The Bohnenkamp’s also are active participants in numerous charities in the Dallas area.
