Rolf Mitchel retired as the highest ranking civilian at the Military District of Washington. He became a licensed pilot, was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary and became Commander of National Capital Wing in Washington, D.C. He was rated Command Pilot.
Mitchel has been married for 59 years and has one child, two grandchildren and is now expecting his second great-grandchild.
