“I have always been a problem solver, and now I am applying that skill
in the field of electricity by becoming an electrical systems designer. I am
responsible for communicating with architects, engineers and project managers
to design electrical systems that meet all of their needs. It’s challenging,
but when I can walk into a building and know that I designed a system to meet
all of the project specifications and come in under budget—that’s
a great feeling.”

Combining the best of two worlds—electrical skills and engineering design
knowledge—Ranken’s Electrical Systems Design Technology (ESDT) program
fulfills local business leaders’ cry for skilled technicians that are
qualified to work and communicate easily with building engineers.
Currently the only one of its kind in the St. Louis region, the ESDT program
provides hands-on training in electrical distribution systems, industrial controls,
circuitry, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), machinery and power distribution.
This two year associate’s degree program allows graduates to enjoy flexible
career options in jobs such as:
Salaries after three to four
years in the field range from $35,000 to $50,000 per year.
