"I have always been intrigued by the design aspect of architecture, but I also love computers and 3D graphics. With Ranken's architecture program, I am able to combine my love of design with the latest techniques in networking and computer-aided drafting."

In Ranken’s Architectural Technology (ART) program students combine real-world
projects with studio work, allowing them to develop projects from conception
through to construction drawings. Other course offerings include:
- Basic design principles
- Site engineering and surveying
- Engineering fundamentals
- Internet and digital imaging tools
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology (BSAT)
program specialize in either architecture or information systems and can transition
smoothly into a master’s of architecture program.
The program also includes an opportunity to work on a local design projects,
past projects include the boathouse in Forest Park, the World Bird Sanctuary
and the lemur habitat at the Saint Louis Zoo. An optional study abroad program
to destinations like Rome and Egypt can also broaden students’ perspectives
on architectural styles, building methods and cultures.
Graduates enjoy employment options in architectural, civil and structural engineering
firms and with contractors.
