Meet the Faculty!
Ranken’s Automotive Maintenance Technology (AMT) program provides students with the comprehensive knowledge and skills required by leading automotive manufacturers and factories.
Combining traditional and modern industry practices, the AMT program develops student proficiencies in:
- Air conditioning
- Brakes
- Electricity
- Engine performance and emissions
- Engines
- Suspension and steering
In addition, fourth semester students are dedicated to the complete service and repair of actual customer vehicles. This enables students to apply skills learned throughout the program in a true automotive shop environment.
Ranken also offers two manufacturer-affiliated programs where students have the opportunity to participate in a corporate sponsorship through either Toyota’s Technical Education Network (T-TEN) or General Motors’ Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP).
Over the past ten years, Ranken’s AMT program has been named Best in the State eight times and was most recently named Best in the Nation for 2003 by the Automotive Industry Planning Council (AIPC).
Graduates accept employment with many of St. Louis’ largest auto manufacturers and dealers and enjoy career growth potential in areas such as sales, management and even research and development. Three to four years after graduation, salaries can grow to $40,000 to $50,000 per year.
